What is biblical counseling?

We at Freedom & Healing in Christ see ourselves as practicing Christian counselors. Freedom & Healing in Christ offers a unique approach to counseling. Part of our uniqueness is that we counsel people Biblically. We do not club people over the head with God’s Word as we would see that as spiritual abuse. We do, however, always hold forth the principles, values and teachings of Scripture. We find that God’s word has much to say in helping people with depression, anxiety, pain, addiction, marriage counseling and substance abuse.

We see God’s Word as being very Christ-centered so, in our counseling, Jesus Christ is as the center of all we do. We find that the Bible is not merely intended to be an informative word to us but a performative word as well. In the counseling setting we find that God’s word brings renewed hope, restoration, life purpose and even a sense of destiny. One of the titles in the scriptures for Jesus Christ is Wonderful Counselor. Our experience demonstrates that through a skilled Christian counselor and the guidance of the Holy Spirit people receive wonderful, life bringing counsel!

Thus Freedom & Healing in Christ’s goal to be a Christian counseling ministry in both methodology and goals, God’s word directs our counseling process and purpose. We truly believe that when people discover healing and freedom for their life it is then God’s purpose for them to serve him more fully.
